Dance until the sun comes up

If you think that Bangkok’s nightlife offers just bad karaoke and sleazy go-go bars, think again. The city boasts a large number of trendy clubs where Thai locals and tourists dance until the early hours every day of the week. The most famous discos are concentrated in 2 well-known streets, which makes for a convenient night out in Bangkok.

Nightlife

Clubbing on Sukhumvit

Levels, located at Sukhumvit Soi 11, is one of the newer clubs and one of the most popular. From 9:00 pm to 3:00 am you can dance here to R&B and house music spun by Bangkok's best DJs; there is no admission fee. Narcissus (‘Narz’ to the locals) at Sukhumvit Soi 23, boasts 8 bars and 3 dance floors with trance, hip hop and house music. The entrance fee to the club, which is popular among hip locals and foreigners, includes 2 drinks. Just around the corner from Narz you will find Glow, another popular nightlife venue that draws locals, expats and tourists. The club has an Asian ambiance with plenty of glass and traditional lighting; the music varies from house to drum 'n' bass. Another option is Grease at Sukhumvit Soi 49: in addition to a club with house, dubstep and drum 'n' bass, Grease also features a bar with live music and a rooftop lounge.

Dancing on Royal City Avenue

A night out on RCA is not complete without a visit to Club Route 66 at RCA Rama 9 Road. Route 66 is a household name in Bangkok and on Fridays and Saturdays this is one of the places to be. Hip hop, R&B and trance music is played in the club’s various wings, while young Thai people share their bottles of whisky at the tables around the dance floor. Foreigners pay an entrance fee, but will be admitted for free if they buy a bottle of spirits. Other popular clubs on RCA are Slim & Flix and LED, where just like in Route 66 hip Thai clubbers enjoy copious amounts of whisky.

Demo

Demo

Early party

Located near RCA and Sukhumvit is Demo, a favourite haunt of affluent Thai, tourists and expats. This club is also great for those who want to start the evening early: the club at Thong Lor Soi 10 opens at 8:00 pm. Demo is decorated like an old, industrial warehouse with exposed brick walls full of graffiti, retro furniture, high ceilings and shutters instead of doors. Make sure to bring your ID because even if you look well over the age of 18, Demo will usually ask to see proof.
